Lichfield Diocesan Board of Education is again delighted to be partnering with Oxford Diocesan Board of Education to provide training and resources to equip you to implement Space Makers in your school.
Space Makers is a resource which has been designed by Oxford Diocese to meet the growing mental health needs of young people. Building on the Mindfulness movement, it also embraces the ancient wisdom of prayer and spirituality in the Christian tradition. Accessible to pupils of all faiths and worldviews, five daily contemplative practices help schools, (both staff and pupils) to develop skills of Stilling, Noticing, Dwelling, Mending and Blessings to assist children in navigating the world around them.
This course is a practical session which allows delegates space for themselves to experience the practices and to grow in confidence to implement them in their school and deliver them in class.
By the end of this course you will:
- Be equipped to deliver five daily meditative exercises to your class
- Understand the background and purpose of the five practices
- Experience the five practices during the day, and share your experience with other learners
- Be confident to introduce pupils and other members of staff to the practices
- Know how to help young people to lead each of the five practices
- Have evidence for SIAMS of spiritual impact in your school
- Develop your distinctively Christian ethos in an inclusive way
- Know how your local church can support the school
- Be a little more peaceful and anchored in your own life.
£82.50 to schools in the Diocesan Service Agreement, £165.00 to all other delegates.
Please note: we reserve the right to cancel any training event if there is less than 10 delegates booked.
