The SIAMS for Governors sessions provide training for governors of Church schools, on effective ways to monitor, and crucially how to evaluate, the effectiveness of all aspects of a Church school.
This will be done through the lens of the SIAMS Framework, leading governors through 5 sessions:
Please note: we reserve the right to cancel any training event if there is less than 10 delegates booked.

Do I have to attend all 5 sessions?
Each of the 5 sessions will be delivered online through MS Teams and will take place from 4:00 until 5:30. The sessions will build upon each other, to grow and develop governors’ knowledge and skills to monitor the impact of the school’s Christian vision. However, governors are welcome to attend selected sessions, and attendance at all 5 is not an expectation.
Each module is available to book on it’s own or if you wish you can book all five here.
Are these sessions only for local governors?
These sessions will be delivered with local governors of Church schools in mind. However, as MATS continue to enhance the Christian foundation of Church schools in their trusts, these sessions will be equally beneficial to trustees.
I can’t make these dates, will the sessions be recorded?
The sessions are intended to be interactive and will seek feedback from participants. For this reason, sessions will not be recorded. Further dates will be made available for future sessions, following participant evaluation.
What else is required of me?
Each of the 5 sessions provides an overview of relevant reading and research relating to the focus of the session, therefore there is no need to prepare ahead of the session. All session materials will be circulated to all participants in attendance.
What can I expect in each session
Each session will look at 2 complimentary elements of the SIAMS Framework and a general session will:
- Explore the expectations of the SIAMS Framework
- Review examples of recent SIAMS reports, reflecting on areas of strength and areas for development in our own context
- Consider the recommendations from the annual SIAMS report from the National Director of SIAMS.
- Explore relevant reading and research relating to each session focus
- Consider how to evaluate the impact of the Christian vision in relation to each of these areas.
