LDBE SIAMS for Governance Twilight Sessions

LDBE SIAMS for Governors Twilight Programme

Develop the confidence to monitor, challenge and support the Christian vision of your Church school.

This five-session online programme has been designed specifically for governors and trustees of Church schools. Whether your school is preparing for SIAMS or simply seeking to strengthen its Christian distinctiveness, these practical sessions will help governors understand what effective governance looks like through the lens of the SIAMS Framework.

Across the programme, participants will explore how governors can evaluate—not simply monitor—the impact of the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision on pupils, adults and the wider community. Each session combines current SIAMS expectations with practical examples from recent inspections, enabling governors to ask informed questions and provide effective strategic challenge.

By the end of the programme you will:

  • understand the purpose and expectations of the SIAMS Framework
  • know how to evaluate the impact of your school’s Christian vision
  • gain confidence in asking effective monitoring questions
  • understand what inspectors are looking for in each inspection question
  • take away practical ideas and resources that can immediately strengthen governance.

Each module is available to book on it’s own or if you wish you can book all five here.

Do I have to attend all 5 sessions?

No. Each session is delivered online via Microsoft Teams from 4:00–5:30 pm and can be attended as a standalone session. The programme has been designed as a progressive series, so governors are encouraged to attend all five sessions where possible. However, there is no expectation to do so, and governors and trustees are welcome to book individual sessions that best meet their needs.

Are these sessions only for local governors?

These sessions will be delivered with local governors of Church schools in mind. However, as MATS continue to enhance the Christian foundation of Church schools in their trusts, these sessions will be equally beneficial to trustees.

I can’t make these dates, will the sessions be recorded?

The sessions are intended to be interactive and will seek feedback from participants. For this reason, sessions will not be recorded. Further dates will be made available for future sessions.

What else is required of me?

Nothing. There is no preparation required before the sessions. Any recommended reading and all session materials will be shared with participants to support their learning.

What can I expect in each session

Each session will look at 2 complimentary elements of the SIAMS Framework and a typical session will:

  • explain the expectations of the SIAMS Framework
  • explore examples from recent SIAMS inspections
  • consider key messages from the National Director of SIAMS’s annual report
  • introduce relevant research and guidance
  • support governors in evaluating the impact of the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision.

Please note: we reserve the right to cancel any training event if there is less than 10 delegates book.
