Our termly SIAMS for Governors and Trustees sessions provide dedicated time for governors, trustees and members of local governing bodies to keep up to date with national and diocesan developments, and consider what these mean for their strategic responsibilities in Church schools and academy trusts. Drawing on national SIAMS findings, each session will explore how those involved in governance can provide effective strategic oversight, hold leaders to account and evaluate the impact of their school’s Christian vision.
Building on the positive feedback from our previous four cohorts of SIAMS for Governors twilight sessions, we will continue to provide valued opportunities for governors and trustees to connect, exchange practice, celebrate what is working well and learn from one another’s experiences.

| National Findings and Governor Evaluation | Drawing on the latest SIAMS Annual Report and national inspection findings, we will explore five key themes emerging from inspections and consider what these mean for Church school governance. Alongside understanding the national picture, we will reflect on how governors can evaluate their school's effectiveness in these areas, considering the questions they might ask of leaders and the evidence that can inform their strategic oversight. | 25th November 2026 | Register Here |
| Evaluating Spiritual Flourishing | Recent SIAMS findings continue to highlight spirituality as a significant area for development, particularly within IQ2 and IQ3. We will explore how governors can understand and evaluate opportunities for spiritual development across the curriculum, collective worship and wider school life. Drawing on national findings and examples of practice, we will consider how governors can know whether pupils and adults are flourishing spiritually, what meaningful evidence might look like, and how their evaluations can inform strategic conversations with school leaders. | 24th February 2027 | Register Here |
| Evaluating the Impact of Religious Education | Our summer session will focus on governors' strategic oversight of religious education, drawing on national SIAMS findings within IQ6 and IQ7. We will explore how governors can evaluate the quality and impact of RE, including how effectively it develops pupils' religious literacy, knowledge and understanding of religious and non-religious worldviews. We will consider the questions governors might ask, the evidence they might draw upon and how their evaluations can support school improvement, while recognising the distinct responsibilities of governors and school leaders. | 9th June 2027 | Register Here |
